The World Is Listening

These Green Eyes

These Green Eyes

Not one member of the band actually has green eyes, but you know, like everyone, we had to ask. What the band These Green Eyes does have is enviable tour experiences and a powerful release, Relapse To Recovery, to hit the road with again later this winter. A quick glance at the band’s myspace entices you to donate, via pay pal, to the cause of keeping them on the road after a costly lapse in van momentum. Seams like one of the more sound investments recently offered; it comes with a personal phone call of thanks from the band members.

These Green Eyes have shared the stage with several big names, such as Hawthorne Heights, Unwritten Law, Fall Out Boy, New Found Glory, and Less Than Jake to name a few. What was it like to play with some major players like these and did you get any pointers from them?

It was trip playing with some of those bands. They were always real respectful and say “we remember touring in a van” etc.. I think you pick things up from bands whether it’s intentional or not. They obviously know what they are doing and some things just rub off.

If you could share the stage with any other artist, who would it be and why?

Foo Fighters. Such a epic rock band. I’d like to learn a thing or two from them.

You guys have 2 albums and an EP under your belt (House of Glass – 2005, Ghosts EP – 2008, and Relapse To Recovery – 2009). Which one is the bands favorite effort and why?
That’s a tough question. We put a lot of work and effort into all of our songs. It would be like picking your favorite child. However Relapse To Recovery is more current so I enjoy playing those songs more.

Brian McTernan (Thrice, Circa Survive, Senses Fail, Hot Water Music) produced your most current album, Relapse To Recovery. What was it like to work with him?

A dream, we love a lot of the records he has done. He got awesome sounds and has an amazing ear. We were really grateful for him working with us. He’s very down to earth and honest.

Relapse To Recovery was released this past March with “Paramedic” as the current single. Does the band plan on continuing to tour in support of this album or is there a follow up in the works?

Both. We will be hitting the road again in the new year continuing to support Relapse, but we’ve also started writing and demoing while we’ve been home. Touring is our main focus at the moment though.

Your video for Sucker Punch (Won’t Get Away With It) won “The Freshman” on MtvU. That’s kind of a big deal. You are now in rotation on MtvU. Do you think that you have gained new fans from this exposure that you might not have been able to reach before?

Yeah That was a good day for us haha. We have gained a bunch of new fans from it, we hear from kids all the time who say they heard of us on mtvU for the first time. A lot of big colleges play that channel all over campus so we are reaching new fans that may not have had another way of hearing about us.

These Green Eyes music is available on iTunes, Amazon, and several other digital distribution services. Do you think that mp3s, filesharing, and just the Internet in general has helped or hurt musicians (not the music industry)?

Well that really depends. Anyone in the world can hear your music and can hear it for free. This is an awesome thing because your music can reach so many ears, but bands really don’t make money anymore because of this too, at least not on their music. The internet has made some careers and also has destroyed some. At this point in my career though its all about getting our music to people, and then it’s their choice whether they actually go support us by buying the music or not. Doesn’t bother me as long as they’re listening.

These Green Eyes have garnered high praise in many national publications like AP, AMP, Outburn, and many others. How does it feel to receive that kind of national attention?

Proud. I am so grateful for the guys in my band and our record label and everyone involved.

Here’s where you get to shamelessly plug away.
